About the VALOR AWARDS

This special luncheon pays tribute to Gwinnett’s public safety professionals including firefighters, police and emergency personnel. The program presents the following awards:

• The Medal of Valor awarded at the gold, silver and bronze level for bravery and heroism.
  
  
• The Lifesaving Award given to the public safety official/unit in recognition of acts taken in a life-threatening situation where an individual’s life is in jeopardy.
  
  
• The Public Safety Person/Unit of the Year awarded to the public safety/official or unit that has performed with exceptional skill, expertise, innovation and results.
  
  
• The Purple Heart (awarded as necessary) awarded to any public safety official who has been critically injured or killed in the line of duty while performing his/her responsibilities at the scene of an emergency incident.
